  • Notes: Traditional etiquette (two-ball play, jacket & tie in clubhouse after 11).

Littlestone Golf Club
  • Distance: ~20 minutes
  • Type: Championship links + shorter Warren course

  • Visitors: Welcome with tee-time booking.

  • Green fees: roughly £120–£160 peak for the championship course, cheaper off-peak; the Warren course ~£30–£40.

  • Why play it: Highly regarded links golf on the Romney Marsh coast.

Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club
  • Distance: ~45 minutes

  • Type: Championship links

  • Visitors: Generally Monday–Thursday tee times available.

  • Green fees: about £100–£185 depending on season.

  • Why play it: Hosted The Open Championship twice and ranked among the world’s best links courses.

Cooden Beach Golf Club
  • Distance: ~35 minutes

  • Type: Coastal links/parkland mix

  • Why play it: Scenic seaside layout with views over the English Channel.

  • Visitors: Welcome every day with advance booking.

  • Green fee: roughly £37–£46 for 18 holes.

  • Why play:

    • Classic seaside layout

    • Very accessible for visitors

    • Good clubhouse and views across the Channel

Sedlescombe Golf Club
  • Distance: ~25 minutes

  • Type: Inland parkland

  • Visitors: Open to green-fee players

  • Why play it: Rolling countryside course with a relaxed atmosphere.

Lydd Golf Club
  • Distance: ~15 minutes

  • Type: Romney Marsh coastal links / links-style

  • Visitors: Generally easy to book tee times

  • Why play:

    • Very relaxed and affordable

    • Open terrain with sea winds and fast-running turf

    • Good “local golfer” feel

This is probably the easiest spontaneous round near Rye.

Cricket

There is no professional cricket locally as Sussex play home games in Hove. Village cricket will take place in most of the villages on Sunday.

World Cup

The World Cup is in the later stages so if Wales get to the tournament, they will have gone home by now. The final day of the round of 32 is on Friday July 3rd.

The round of 16 is on Sat/Sunday/Monday and Tuesday
