Most will travel from Heathrow Airport. There are some flights to Gatwick but they are few and often more expensive.

To reach Rye, you need to get through London as Rye is in the South East corner of England.

Into London (and Beyond)

The Elizabeth line

This is a new line of the subway system and travel into and beyond London. The trains do stop in Central London but you can continue onto a stop in the East End of the city. The train is operated by TfL (Transport for London). Note - there are two destinations for the Elizabeth line (Abbey Wood and Shenfield). You want the Shenfield line. Tickets for the "Tube" are purchased from TfL direct. The TFL (Elizabeth Line) website is:

https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/elizabeth-line/

The best stop on the Elizabeth Line is Stratford International with connecting trains to Paris and various town such as Canterbury, Dover and Ashford International.

Ashford International is the best destination and this takes 30 minutes. From Ashford it is about 20 minutes to Rye by train or car. Trains from Stratford and Ashford are operated by SouthEastern Railways.

Train tickets are best purchased online and the best app is thetrainline.com or using their app. An alternative is omio.com.

Other Options (by Train)

You can catch the Heathrow Express into Paddington - it is more expensive and drops you off non-stop at Paddington (Paddington Bear). This journey is just 15 minutes. From Paddington you can catch a train to Stratford International and then change to Ashford as above.

You can catch the Piccadilly line (the Tube) but this is slow and stops at every station - into central London it is about 28 stops so not worth mentioning any further.
